Raymond James expands Investment Banking practice, hires veteran Industrial Technology banker

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. ─ Raymond James continues to expand the capabilities of its Diversified Industrials Investment Banking practice with the addition of Jay Hernandez as managing director and head of the Industrial Technology sector team. Hernandez has more than 16 years of experience advising global corporate and private equity clients in numerous Industrial Technology sub-sectors, including test & inspection, robotics & automation, flow & process control and industrial digitalization. He has advised public and private companies on a broad spectrum of corporate finance matters, including mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings, and other strategic advisory analyses.

Hernandez’s hire complements a global growth initiative for the Diversified Industrials Investment Banking practice in general and the Industrial Technology sector in particular, and is the most recent in a series of significant hires including Tobias Ramminger and Sherif Abdel-Aziz, both located in Germany.

“Jay’s wealth of experience in and expansive knowledge of the Industrial Technology sector make him the ideal professional to lead this important effort for us here in the U.S.,” said Alper Cetingok, head of the Diversified Industrials Investment Banking practice. “Jay and his European colleagues will work across borders to deliver meaningful results to clients whose businesses are growing due to rapid changes in the space that will continue to evolve. I’m pleased to have him join us at Raymond James and look forward to partnering with him on our continued expansion.”

Hernandez joins Raymond James from Moelis & Company, where he led the firm’s global industrial technology practice. Prior to Moelis & Company, Hernandez began his investment banking career at Harris Williams & Company, where he co-founded and led the firm’s industrial technology group. Hernandez holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Arizona and an MBA from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.

“I am excited to join the well-respected and growing team at Raymond James,” Hernandez said. “Industrial technology’s contribution to market development right now is nearly unparalleled and our clients are the companies creating groundbreaking advancements that are revolutionizing the ways things are done. I’ve experienced first-hand the tectonic shifts that industrial technology has produced, and continues to produce, in all sectors of the global economy. There is a tremendous opportunity here at Raymond James to build an industry-leading team that is focused on working with and helping grow our client companies. It’s a very exciting time to be in the space.”
