Raymond James & Associates Recognizes Complex Manager, Branch Manager and Alex. Brown Manager of the Year

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James & Associates (RJA) and Alex. Brown executives recognized top leaders within the employee advisor division at the broker/dealer’s annual branch managers meeting, held January 8 in Tampa, Florida.

Tash Elwyn, president and CEO of RJA , recognized Bert White from the Boca Raton, Florida, complex as 2018 Complex Manager of the Year. Kim Jenson, COO and senior vice president of RJA Private Client Group, recognized David Brennan from the Manhattan branch as 2018 Branch Manager of the Year. Haig Ariyan, president of Alex. Brown, recognized Steve Pryor in Boston as Alex. Brown Manager of the Year.

The annual Complex Manager, Branch Manager and Alex. Brown Manager of the Year awards are given to just three out of approximately 245 managers in the RJA system, based on nominations from the field and endorsements from the nominees’ divisional and regional directors*.

“I am continually impressed by the caliber of the managers we have supporting our advisors and their clients,” said Elwyn. “Selecting the winners gets harder every year, as each nominee has demonstrated the highest level of commitment to our firm’s culture. In addition to strong risk management, this year’s honorees have achieved notable success in their complex’s and branch’s growth and development. Bert and David are exceptional managers, and we are proud to congratulate them as this year’s award recipients.”

Since joining the firm in 2017, White has distinguished himself as one of the strongest complex managers in RJA. He has enhanced the culture within his complex and contributed to its growth, including welcoming 12 advisors during fiscal year 2018. In addition to focusing on his complex’s recruiting and retention, he freely shares recruiting strategies, processes and best practices with other managers and has helped mentor newer managers in the Florida region.

Since opening his branch in December 2014, Brennan has built the office into one of the largest branches in the division. During fiscal year 2018, assets grew by over 80 percent, from organic net new asset growth and successful recruiting, including the recruitment of a team with over $1 billion in assets under management. In addition to production growth, he has been successful in ensuring a welcoming culture throughout his office.

“I am honored to recognize Steve as the first recipient of the Alex. Brown Manager of the Year Award,” said Ariyan. “I have the pleasure of working with extremely talented, passionate and efficient leaders like Steve who work tirelessly to support the growth of Alex. Brown and our client advisors.”

Since joining Alex. Brown in 2017, Pryor has not only continued to grow revenues and margins, but also invigorated local engagement through his active support of advisors and their clients. In addition to spearheading expansion plans, he is an active member of the Black Financial Advisors Network, serves on the Raymond James Advisor Mastery Program’s Advisory Council and served on the Branch Manager Advisory Council to help plan this year’s managers conference.

In addition to this year’s overall winners, Elwyn and Jenson also recognized additional leaders from each RJA division for their outstanding 2018 results:

Complex Managers:

  • Alp Onder, Farmington Hills, Michigan; Northern division
  • Dan Parker, Charleston, South Carolina; Southern division
  • Sam Dickson, South Central Texas; Western division
