Outside of the office, Julie is an active member of her community. She has served as the past president of the Chattanooga State Alumni Association and currently chairs the Board for the Chattanooga Women's Leadership Institute. Julie is also proud to be part of the Chattanooga State Community College Foundation Board and a member of Chattanooga Rotary. Giving back to her community and sharing her talents is a top priority for her.

Julie resides in her hometown of Soddy Daisy with her high school sweetheart, now husband, Barry. Between them they have three children, Shelby, Jessica and Jacob and three precious grandchildren, Milo, Mia and Cade. In their free time, Julie and Barry enjoy quality family time, poolside cookouts, and long road trips with no particular destination.
