Sean Kelly began his career with Raymond James at the age of 16 years old. As an intern, he learned to appreciate the importance of world-class capabilities as well as the value of human relationships. Over two decades later, his passion for people and finance has grown exponentially. Today he seeks to provide clients with a sense of well-being not simply through skill and a broad range of investment products, but by making the financial planning process a positive, personal experience.
Since day one Sean began investing heavily in his professional education. As a result, he is a Chartered Financial Analyst ®, a Certified Financial Planner™ and a Certified Investment Management Analyst professional. To become a CFP® professional one must meet the experience requirement, complete significant education coursework, pass a rigorous two-day examination and uphold ongoing ethics requirements. Focusing primarily on portfolio management theory, the CIMA® program requirements are extensive. Included are the passing of a qualification exam, the attendance of classes at the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania, passing a second exam, and finally passing the Certification Exam. Lastly, the CFA institute boasts a substantial failure rate at all three levels, each offered only once per year. The difficulty of earning ones charter yields a persistent reputation as one of the most challenging academic undertakings across all professional industries. Sean additionally, achieved unique standing among worldwide analysts by passing all three CFA examination levels in his first attempt. Sean strongly believes this specialized education enables him to help serve the clients of St Pete Wealth Management of Raymond James.
A leader in the community, Sean is serving his third three-year term as the elected citizen trustee for the city of St. Petersburg Employees' Retirement System. He is one of five trustees acting as fiduciaries for more than 1,000 city employees where he is responsible for investment management of hundreds of millions in pension assets as well as overseeing retirement and disability hearings for the residents of the city of St. Petersburg. Some of Sean's other community involvement includes the Police Athletic League (PAL) of St. Petersburg, Morton Plant Mease Foundation's Financial Counseling Services, and the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast.
Sean graduated from Flagler College, where he earned a basketball scholarship, with a degree in both business administration and economics. After spending time traveling the country as a professional musician, he chose to put down his guitar and settle in St. Petersburg, where he presently resides with his wife, Jennifer, a Tampa native, area executive and USF alumna. They are the proud parents of three wonderful children named Declan, Kieran and Riley. Free time for their family typically includes sports, boating, golf and travel.
