Range Bound Markets and Challenges They Bring
Over the past year, we have described the market and expectations as “range bound.” We wanted to illustrate what that has looked like over the past 15 months for the S&P 500 Index. In our opinion, range bound markets can in fact be a very difficult time for investors mentally. Managing expectations will help temper enthusiasm at peaks, but also soften pessimism in valleys. At times such as this is we seek to identify the range, be mindful of the trend (the middle ground), and dollar cost average into investments we believe present attractive long term opportunity.
