IN MEMORIAM
JERRY D. SOMMERVILLE
Formerly Senior Vice President, Investments
January 18, 1953 – January 24, 2014
Jerry was the founding member of the Sommerville Financial Group of Raymond James.
Jerry was born in Petaluma, California and attended Pacific Union College in Angwin California graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. He attained his MBA from the University of South Florida in 1983.
Jerry served in the healthcare field spending ten years as the Vice-President of Finance at the Charlotte Regional Medical Center until joining A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc. in 1992. This experience was the impetus in realizing the relationship between helping people in the health care system and the necessity of financial planning. Fifteen years later, in 2007, Jerry would join Raymond James, quickly achieving Leaders Club stature, based on assets under management, education, credentials and fiscal year production.
Jerry was a devout Christian and served as Elder and Deacon of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Port Charlotte and derived pleasure in teaching at their Adult Sabbath School. Jerry was also a longtime member of the Charlotte Rotary serving as both a Board Member and President.
Jerry is survived by his loving family, including his wife Connie, daughters Heather Rose and Nicole Hickman, his son Harold Sommerville, his brother Roger and his grandchildren, Alexander and Matthew.
Jerry left behind a legacy of serving the community, his faith and family, and faithfully served his clients as well. It is a legacy that he has passed on to the surviving members of the Sommerville Group. We were truly honored to be associated with this giant of a man and we will carry on his philosophy and work ethic.
He is truly missed by all of us, but he will never be forgotten by any who had the opportunity to know him in any capacity.
