In 1976, a boy named David Abrams was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 2. When it was time for sleep-away camp, because of David’s illness, no camp would accept him. So, his family decided to create their own camp called Happy Trails.
For thirteen years, Happy Trails has been hosting children who were raised in the foster care system and/or were born serious illnesses. The camp offers outdoor activities, mentorship, and fellowship to these children. Happy Trails eagerly tries to promote a sense of normalcy into the lives of children who might be dealing with more difficult things in their day to day and now it is year-round!

AdoptTogether is a non-profit crowdfunded platform founded by Hank Fortener. Fortener understands the struggles with the adoption process but also the blessings from it. His family fostered 36 children and adopted 8 from 6 different countries while he was growing up. Through his upbringing and personal life experiences, Hank’s heart grew for adoption and that drove him to create AdoptTogether.
