Our Story

Our Story

The origins of our team began in 2005 when Scott Mowry, then a Financial Advisor at Legg Mason, brought in Iris Porush to help with his growing practice. Iris added specializations to the team at a time when our services were expanding to address the increasing complex needs of our clients. Scott had been in the industry since 1997 at Legg Mason, but change was in the air. Legg Mason, a small but financially strong investment firm, was acquired by Citigroup Smith Barney (now Morgan Stanley). The team embraced the increased resources of the new firm but were less than excited about the change in culture.

By 2009, with the Great Recession in full swing and another corporate merger in the works at Smith Barney, the team had decided to establish their own independent practice with the single-minded determination to always put our client’s interest first and offer an unparalleled level of customized service. By this time, the team included George Wright, our investment professional and Shannon Crank, our registered client service associate. In June 2009, Legacy Financial Group was founded, and we aligned ourselves with Raymond James Financial Services.

Raymond James provides all our custody services, technology, back office support, and compliance. Raymond James was chosen by us, most importantly, because of their strong culture and fiscal strength. Over the course of four years, we had done extensive research and interviews with all the top firms that cater to independent offices; Raymond James stood out as a clear leader for our clients’ needs. The relationship was sealed with an old-fashioned handshake instead of contracts and paperwork. A promising start to a now decade long relationship.

As a company, we are proud and protective of our culture that values and cares for our clients, our employees, our families, our independence, and our community. We believe a virtuous cycle is created when our focus always remains on these pillars. We are honored to serve our clients each day and to possess their trust and confidence.
