We knew Ryan Mills a bit as an acquaintance (through our church) even before our Granville Investment Group story started. But when we hit a time in our lives when we were both in our early 60s and in need of some financial planning to help us understand what our retirement picture could (and should) look like, we immediately thought of Ryan—knowing that he worked in the investment world. We wish we had talked in detail with Ryan much sooner in life, but we certainly remember our first meeting with him very well! …It was a day when we were both rarely off work at the same time and had a few free hours together. We literally Googled Ryan’s business and drove there just to see if by chance we could meet while we had this rare opportunity of free time. We knocked on the door and asked for Ryan—who graciously met with us right then and there!
We literally told Ryan that we didn’t know what to do about retirement…We wanted to retire in a couple years, but were we two years out? Ten years out? Never out?
Ryan just looked at us with his wonderful smile and told us that is exactly what he can help us figure out. We felt a weight lift off our shoulders—as we weren’t able to be very active in managing it, and the busier we were with work, the worse our account’s growth. When we transitioned all our accounts to Ryan’s group, we didn’t have to worry about our money and we love that Ryan told us he’d take care of us with the same care he gives his own mother! He is such a caring person, and if he’s going to treat us like his mom, then we certainly don’t have to worry about anything! We feel like family—as Ryan makes the effort to know us personally, proactively communicate more than just once a quarter, and he gets involved to understand our lifestyle goals. When uncertain things are happening in the market, we’ve never even had to ask “Hey- what’s going on?”—instead, he’s on top of it and reaches out to us.
We’ve now moved to Atlanta, GA (to be near family). We’ve been away from Granville for over a year, and we still interact with Ryan’s team just as much as if we were in the same town. The quality of our communication has not changed as we stay connected via Zoom. In fact, Heather still touches base regularly. We were very ready to not be working in the “Rat Race” any longer (Laura as a bank employee, and Monte in IT), and we’re so happy to be comfortable as our life transitioned into retirement and down to Atlanta. We are where we need to be. We are also so happy that when friends talk to us about a life change or financial situation, we know exactly who to recommend. The bottom line: We know we’re working with someone we can trust not only professionally, but also with a trusted, quality individual who we share a lot in common with. When we call Ryan, he already knows what we’re going to ask and he has already thought about the topics that are important to us. We really connect on a lot of levels, and Ryan truly makes us feel like family.
