A Cohen Family Announcement

It has been quite a while since I have updated my “extended family” with personal news. But there are moments in all our lives where you can’t help but pause and reflect upon what is really important. Words do not sufficiently describe the emotions, but I hope to adequately paint the picture.

For those clients that have been with us for the past 30 years, you may recall my stories and updates of the trials and tribulations of mine and Giselle’s children. From my joyful missives on births thru college, and all the way to their first jobs. I have told these tales with great pride, and optimism of a wonderful future for this next generation. When I have relayed these stories, especially to our older clients, everyone, without exception, has told me, “Just wait until you have grandchildren!”

I can now say that I understand. Our oldest daughter and her husband welcomed their first child, a healthy baby boy, Enzo to the world, just a few weeks ago. Throwing away any perception you may have of me as a reserved, thick skinned, stony eyed investment professional … I cried like a baby. One of the greatest memories I will ever have in my life is the blessing of 4 generations of family together in the same room. That moment will be cherished forever.

I’m not mentioning this as a back door plea for baby gifts. Believe me, Enzo, being the first born has an outfit for every hour of the day. I want to tell you this because, I get it!! The blessing we have to pass on of family stories, wisdom, comfort, support, culture and wealth is more important to me more than ever. “L’Dor V’Dor (from generation to generation)” is more than just the bond between generations. Leaving a legacy is just as important as carrying on your family name. Oftentimes, that legacy may include contributing to their college tuition, paying for a wedding or a first home. In short, it is wealth. As your Financial Advisors, we are honored to be a small part of your plan in leaving a legacy for your family. It is an obligation that we strive to honor everyday and pledge to continue to do our part to the best of our ability for many years to come. Thank you for letting us be a part of your financial lives and listening to my story today.
