2025 Retirement Plan Contribution Limits
The IRS recently released their 2025 guidance on Retirement Plan Contribution Limits. Each year, we produce a handy reference guide for clients that compares the new numbers with the previous years. Here are some items to pay particular attention to:
- Pretax or Roth 401k contributions increase from $23,000 to $23,500 for 2025. If applicable, don’t forget to recalculate your contribution percentages to hit the maximum!
- Catch-up Contributions have changed slightly!
a. For those ages 50-59, and those 64 and over, the Catch-Up limit is still $7,500.
b. For those individuals ages 60-63, the Catch-Up limit is now $11,250. - SEP IRA contribution limits increased to $70,000.
- The income limits to contribute directly to a Roth IRA increased to $150,000 for Single, and $236,000 for Married Filing Jointly.
a. If you make more than that, you may be eligible for a Back-Door Roth Conversion
