1989—Liberty Wealth Management was founded by Brian Liberty
1997—After eight years working as a financial advisor specializing in asset allocation at Dain Bosworth (now RBC), Brian moved his practice to Piper Jaffray and developed a proprietary financial planning system and software, as well as the flagship Leaders Plus equity portfolio, established in 1998 and still used today.
2005—After Piper Jaffray announced it was to be bought by UBS, Brian relocated to Raymond James & Associates, sharing an office with two other advisors and their assistant, which soon grew to six advisors.
April 2013—As growth and the success of Liberty Wealth Management continued, Brian had the privilege to move his practice to the Raymond James Advisor Select Platform. The Raymond James Advisor Select Platform provides advisors and their clients the best of both worlds – independence with the benefits of working with an industry-leading, full-service broker/dealer.
May 2013—Brian purchased and began renovating the building at 2230 London Road, formerly Bellows Restaurant and Elysium Hair Salon & Spa, and the team moved in October 2013.
1967—The building at 2230 London Road, which now houses the Liberty Wealth Management practice, was originally designed in 1967 as The Bellows Restaurant, a high-class supper club. Opened by owners Donald and Verna Bellows in 1970, on Verna’s birthday, The Bellows became a popular dining destination of that time.
1974—Ownership of the building changed hands and was sold to B & D Corp of Duluth.
1980—The building housed a nightclub called Remy’s that remained in business for just two years.
1982—The Bellows tradition was later restarted, and the restaurant was featured in Insider Magazine. We have had many clients tell us about an experience or special occasion they have had at the Bellows.
1991— Brian had his first date with his wife at the bellows in 1991.
2000—The Elysium Hair Salon & Spa opened its practice in the building, and then moved to a new location after 12 years of business.
May 2013—Brian found 2230 to be the perfect building for its architecture, history, access, location and space. He bought into a 50% partnership and with the help of Odyssey Development began an intensive renovation, totally gutting the building, to design a comfortable and professional, “Northland meets Wall Street”, wealth management office.
Renovation included new electrical and plumbing, insulation, new walls and carpet, cherry wood molding, enlarging the back windows to provide better views of the lake, a double sided ledge rock fireplace, modern bathrooms, a fully-equipped kitchen, five offices, two conference rooms, and an inviting client waiting/lounge area. The lake conference room seats ten comfortably around a large eleven-foot long black thunder granite table and takes advantage of the beautiful views of Lake Superior. The London Road conference room is designed specifically for productive client portfolio reviews and financial goal planning meetings furnished with a honed finished Mesabi black granite conference table, six comfortable executive chairs, the latest in technology and resources, and a 75” screen.
