More Fun Places – Out of the Area

Venice Beach

Home of the famous Shark-Toothing Adventure! Bring a shell sifter or rent one at a local shop. Head on down to Caspersen Beach and start sifting shells/rocks at the small drop off in about 1 foot of water. You will find them! Going by boat I recommend Docking at the Crow’s Nest Restaurant Marina and Bar. Grab a snack on the Jetty, a bite to eat on the main pier or wander the town just a mile down the road.

Key West

Make the 240-mile trip to Key West in a straight shot or cruise more leisurely down the Intracoastal. The most affordable overnight docking is at the City Marina; Galleon Marina and A&B Marina are also options, but can be pricier. There’s plenty of fun to be had on island or venture out to go fishing, lobstering, snorkeling, and take a visit to Boca Grande Beach or Dry Tortugas National Park.

Homosassa River

In Homosassa, you can enjoy cool water, springs, and scalloping in season. Here you can also visit Florida Cracker Riverside Resort: Home of World Famous Monkey Island and Florida Cracker Monkey Bar. There are plenty of local eateries, but Crump’s Landing Bar and Grill in Homosassa also always has plenty of docking for boaters.
