Dear Friends and Clients,
Welcome to 2020. As the new year begins, people typically take out pencils and paper, give thought to desired objectives, and jot down a few resolutions. In conjunction with this exercise, I would encourage everyone to review their budgets, determine future income and liquidity needs, and plan accordingly. As Yogi Berra once said, “If you don’t know where you’re going, you might end up somewhere else.”
With regard to planning, I have been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professional since 1987, and am happy to help in any of the following areas:
While each of the above planning subjects is important, I believe that investment management is the key factor with regard to long-term financial success. While the first five planning areas are important, they are fairly static; each one can be reviewed and decided upon once a year. Investment management, however, is dynamic. It involves analyzing and understanding a multitude of constantly changing variables, and making adjustments as needed.
Investment management is similar to driving a car. To get from point A to point B safely, it is important to map one’s destination, understand current conditions, and remain alert for the unexpected. One needs to watch for potholes, pay attention to other drivers, and allow for bad weather. Most important, the focus should be through the windshield … not the rearview mirror.
A forward-looking focus is all important in order to reach one’s goals. Careful planning and proper navigation can increase the odds for success. As we enter 2020, I encourage everyone to consider the six planning areas listed above, and let me know how I can help.
