Raymond James expands Investment Banking practice, adds veteran Aviation and Aerospace banker
St. PETERSBURG, Fla. ─ Raymond James is expanding the capabilities of its Diversified Industrials Investment Banking practice with the hiring of David Fowkes as managing director and co-head of the aviation and aerospace sector team. Fowkes will be joining Tom Mullins, managing director and co-head of the aviation and aerospace sector team, to build upon the firm’s leading franchise in aviation as well as to assist with expansion into coverage of the aerospace sector. Fowkes has 25 years of diverse investment banking experience across both aviation and aerospace with deep global sector expertise in M&A, capital raising, restructuring and aviation project finance, having led transactions domestically and in more than 30 countries.
“I am pleased to welcome David to Raymond James and thrilled about the expansion of the scope of our coverage into aerospace,” said Alper Cetingok, head of Raymond James’ Diversified Industrials group. “In addition to David’s extensive experience and deep relationships in the aviation and aerospace sectors, his experience in restructuring and aviation project finance adds to our existing capabilities and enhances the ways in which we can help our clients.”
Fowkes joins Raymond James from Imperial Capital, where he was a senior leader in its aviation and aerospace investment banking practice and focused on capital raising, M&A and restructuring for fixed and rotary wing aircraft operators, lessors and MROs and aerospace clients. He previously held investment banking and capital markets roles at Seabury Group, helicopter operator Bristow Group, Deutsche Bank’s special situation group focusing on aviation related investments, lending and advisory, M&A and capital markets coverage at Lehman Brothers, and capital markets structuring and execution at Citigroup and Salomon Brothers. Fowkes received his B.S. in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his MBA in finance from NYU’s Stern School of Business.
“Restructuring will be key to resuscitating the broad aviation and aerospace markets,” said Fowkes. “I’m thrilled to work with Tom and the team to continue to build out Raymond James’ investment banking practice in this growing space.”
The Aviation and Aerospace practice offers clients capital raising, M&A advisory and restructuring services to air carriers, aviation service businesses and aerospace market participants throughout the value chain.
