Raymond James adds senior banker to expand financial services investment banking team

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James has hired Steven Berger as a managing director in its Financial Services Investment Banking practice. Based in New York City, Berger will focus on the asset management sector.

Having focused on financial services his entire investment banking career, Berger brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to a deeply talented and prolific Financial Services Investment Banking team. His addition will bolster the firm’s coverage of the asset management space and will further support Investment Banking’s continued efforts to build a practice that delivers actionable ideas and enhanced insights to the private equity community.

“With a wide array of deals and clients to his credit, Steven is a highly regarded and skilled addition to our team,” said John Roddy, head of Financial Services Investment Banking. “The asset and wealth management sectors are undergoing a transformation given the confluence of credit, private markets and insurance, leading to significant investments from the private equity community. This activity has created a substantial need for innovative investment banking advice and services, and Steven is uniquely qualified to work with our clients as they exploit these developments.”

Berger joins Raymond James from Rothschild & Co. where he covered the asset management space. He held previous roles at Credit Suisse, on MetLife’s corporate development team and JP Morgan. Berger served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 10 years after graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy. He holds an MBA in finance from the R.H. Smith School of Business (University of Maryland).
