Life & Death

Woody Alan once said, “There’s only one thing worse than death and that’s spending an evening with an insurance agent.”

As someone who began his finance career as an insurance agent I found this very helpful, helpful in that I could tell the joke on myself and then begin to have a serious conversation with clients and prospective clients about this important part of financial security.

You see, back in the day, when an agent had sold a life insurance policy to a client and that client passed away, the agent was the one who delivered the life insurance proceeds (check(s)). Let me say this as clearly as I can. Never did the beneficiary refuse the check or say it was too much. Never.

So what’s my point here?

My point is, do not fail to understand the importance of insurance for you and your family’s financial security.

Do you have life insurance? Is it the right kind and the right amount?

Do you have long-term care insurance? Have you ever thought about it? Do you know the difference between traditional LTC and asset-based LTC?

Do you have car insurance? Do you have health insurance? Do you have homeowner’s insurance?

See what I mean? You probably have these last three but somehow may have avoided the topic of life and LTC insurance.

I want to change that but not in a way that you might think. You see, I do have all these insurances so I’m adequately covered and feel financially confident for my family and me. However, this is not about me; it’s about you and your family. If you don’t want to discuss this stuff, fine. I get that. I’ve been doing this for a long time and again, it’s not me and my family; it’s about you and yours.

I don’t care if you buy it or don’t. Actually, I do because I’m bringing it up but this is not a sales pitch, this is an important financial topic about which I am very familiar and experienced so if you’d like to chat about it, let’s do. If not, okay. I get it.

At least I brought it up.

Sincerely,
