Raymond James continues expansion of Healthcare Investment Banking Practice, hires three senior bankers

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Raymond James is again expanding the capabilities of its Healthcare Investment Banking practice with the addition of three senior bankers. Joining the firm as managing directors are Jeff Saxton, Matt Pangia and Kevin Carpenter. All three are seasoned investment banking professionals with at least 15 years of healthcare investment banking experience.

“We are very excited to bring on three more senior bankers with strong deal experience and sector specialization in the healthcare industry. Jeff, Matt and Kevin are great additions to our healthcare team. Having worked with each of them at previous firms, I have seen firsthand their ability to provide in-depth strategic advice to clients in their respective areas of focus in the healthcare industry,” said Doug Brown, senior managing director and head of Healthcare Investment Banking. “We are focused on delivering thoughtful talented sector specialists to our client base and the addition of Jeff, Matt and Kevin allows us to serve a broader universe of companies in the healthcare industry and we will continue to grow our practice by attracting sector specialists.”

Saxton joins Raymond James from Lazard’s healthcare team and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina. He will serve clients in the healthcare services sector, which includes risk bearing providers, value-based care enablement, health plans and pharmacy benefits management. Saxton previously was with Wachovia’s healthcare investment banking group and worked at Legg Mason as a managed care services equity research analyst. Prior to his financial services career, he served in the United States Marine Corps as an infantry officer. Saxton earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Miami University and MBA from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management.

Pangia covers the medical products industry including medical device outsourcing, contract manufacturing, automation, medical consumables and other areas within the medical technology supply chain. He comes to Raymond James from SVB Securities after previous roles with RBC Capital Markets and Ivy Capital Partners. He is based in New York City and has an economics degree from Fordham University.

Carpenter specializes in healthcare technology, including digital health, consumerism, data exchange and analytics, healthcare payments, benefits technology, payor and provider technology-enabled services and software, and brings over 20 years of healthcare experience as both an investment banker and corporate executive. He joins Raymond James from Zelis, a healthcare payments platform transforming the financial experience for payors, providers and consumers, where he served as a chief strategy officer. Based in Atlanta, he holds a BSBA in finance from Georgetown University and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business.

“Raymond James is highly regarded in the healthcare investment banking space and the deep industry knowledge held by this international team is backed by a powerful platform that collectively executes and delivers results to clients, helping them grow and meet their goals,” said Jim Bunn, president of Global Equities and Investment Banking. “Healthcare is a massive $4 trillion industry undergoing transformational changes and adding strong senior bankers who specialize in specific healthcare sectors ensures that our clients have the relevant experience needed to grow their unique business. This industry team is stacked with talented and experienced bankers, leaving the firm well positioned for continued growth.
