Raymond James hires public finance professional Cheryl Schluterman

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James announced that Cheryl Schluterman has joined the firm’s Public Finance group as a Little Rock, Arkansas-based senior vice president. Schluterman will primarily support the general government practice and will focus on issuers across the state.

“Cheryl is a well-respected and longtime financial industry professional whose addition reflects our firm’s ongoing commitment to growing our Public Finance franchise, as well as our municipal platform as a whole,” said Daniel Allen, head of the Arkansas Public Finance practice. “Her expertise provides valuable insights into the industry and the knowledge of how to best serve our issuer clients.”

Schluterman has more than 20 years of diverse experience in finance. She joins Raymond James from the Arkansas Development Finance Authority, the state’s primary issuer of bonds, where she served as president and chief financial officer. Before her work for the state, Schluterman gained extensive experience at Little Rock’s Baptist Health as manager in tax and treasury. She previously worked at BKD in a number of public accounting specialties, including tax compliance, consulting and arbitrage calculations for healthcare and not-for-profit entities.

“Cheryl’s work throughout the state makes her the right person to build on our firm’s long history in Arkansas,” said Gavin Murrey, executive vice president and head of Public Finance/Debt Investment Banking at Raymond James. “She is a talented finance professional whose diverse background, including public accounting, not-for-profit healthcare and leading the statewide governmental issuer, further strengthens and adds depth to our roster of experts who provide exceptional, customized solutions to our issuer clients.”

Consistently ranked as a top 10 underwriter of municipal bonds nationally, according to Bloomberg*, Raymond James has one of the largest public finance practices in the country with approximately 170 professionals in 35 locations nationwide and is searching for additional talented bankers to continue expanding the practice. The firm offers municipal issuers a comprehensive distribution platform and the largest middle market sales force of any U.S. broker/dealer.
