Why I Became a Financial Advisor

By Daniel Staiger, CFP®, CRPC®

I’ve never built a house, but I do know this: if you skip steps in the construction process or try to cut corners, putting wall joists too far apart or not insulating properly, you may end up with something that looks like a house but critical pieces are missing. It’s the same with finances. There are many moving pieces and important steps to make everything fit together. When I started looking for jobs to launch my career, I realized that many people had no idea what to do with their money, and it was setting them up for a disaster down the road.

I knew that whatever job I pursued needed to include the opportunity to serve others in a tangible way and add value to their lives. I became a financial advisor so I could help them build a strong financial house and guide them to a place where they could experience confidence in their financial future.

Building My Career

I became a financial advisor in 2007, earning the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor℠ certifications and have spent the last 14 years helping families, pre-retirees, and union employees navigate their financial challenges and opportunities. As a partner at Matarazzo Staiger Wealth Management and Financial Advisor at Raymond James Financial Services, I spend my days walking my clients through a comprehensive, customized planning process and building long-term relationships so they have someone to turn to as they journey through life.

The Best Part

I love that I get the opportunity to help others reach their financial potential. I consider it a privilege to get to know my clients, sort through their concerns, goals, dreams, and fears, and design a plan that will get them from point A to point B. Seeing the relief on people’s faces when they learn how to take control of their money and make it work for them is why I come to work every day! My clients are like family to me, and I want to make sure they are well taken care of no matter what life throws their way.
