Since We Last Spoke…

A lot has happened since our last blog was written & published, and we would be remised not to acknowledge and discuss what has happened since the end of August. In a short period of time we have seen so much; 4 hurricanes: Harvey, Irma, Maria, and Nate, flooding in Houston, the slow recovery in Puerto Rico, fires in California, massacres in Las Vegas, the protests, and the presidential tweets. At times this can seem overwhelming, and levy a sense of helplessness. Some of these events seem far away, while others have affected friends, clients, co-workers and family. While our thoughts, prayers, and dollars are appreciated, it is the gift of our time that is most appreciated. While we might not all have the time and resources to go to Puerto Rico, or Houston to assist, there are many small things we can do that can make a difference; although, it may not be a direct response to the recent crisis it can be very meaningful. Consider taking time to volunteer at one of the area schools that are overflowing with displaced students. Give a pint of blood. Volunteer at the Food Bank packing goods in boxes, or serving a meal at Metro Ministries. Spend a Saturday morning with Habitat for Humanity. Even consider cooking a meal for a neighbor you know could use a little boost. These small acts can have a very meaningful and unifying effect at a time when we seem so divided. Laguna Wealth Services will be working with Habitat for Humanity on Saturday November 11th. Feel free to come join us! Contact our office or Corpus Christi Habitat for Humanity http://corpuschristihfh.org/ for details.
