Inflation for December - Jan 17th, 2025
What are our thoughts? January 17th, 2025
Economic Release – Inflation CPI
Markets reacted extremely favorable to the inflation read for the month of December 2024. The numbers are a bit confusing, but breaking them down continue to point to inflation falling. Our economist Eugenio also confirms, they looked good. Rates also dropped in a meaningful way, which gave the stock market room to breathe.

Economic Release – Employment Report
Employment growth for the month of December came in very strong. The markets reacted negatively to the number, due to fears that stronger economic activity could lead to a spark in inflation. Don’t read into the narrative to much, strong job growth speaks to a strong economy; and a strong economy leads to strong companies and stocks. I’d rather see a strong jobs number than a weak one.
