Winter 2024
The weather is a big part of my life. I mean, yes, the weather is something we all experience every day, but I might just think a lot more about the weather than the average person. I watch the weather every morning as part of my routine. I check the weather throughout the day for the next day and upcoming running days. I like to plan ahead. One might suggest, I’m a little obsessed with the weather. They’d probably be right! If there is one thing I have learned about the weather, and you’d probably agree, is that it is very difficult to predict, and changes easily.
A couple of years ago, we had a celebration party for my husband, Roger. Of course, we were checking the weather every day to see if it would rain as it was an outdoor party over the Labor Day weekend. All week long the weather man boasted it would be a great outdoor weekend, with lots of sunshine…of course it was cloudy and a little cooler than expected for party day. You just can’t predict the unpredictable.
As much as I listen to and plan around the weather forecast, I know things can change and sometimes change quickly. To make sure I have planned accordingly, I keep the umbrella and snow scraper handy in the car, and on running days, I often don’t make a final decision on apparel until I get up in the morning.
Planning is what I do. It’s what we do for you too, on our team at Kindred Financial Partners. Just like with the weather, predictions can be made, but things can change. Sometimes market conditions change very quickly, like when the Covid pandemic panic hit in March 2020. Sometimes your goals and situation change, and we need to adjust the sails, so to speak. Sometimes we change investments, because what was once reliable has not done what we have expected it to do.
The key to changes and planning is communication. When changes happen, we communicate with you. Maybe it’s quickly like when we called each of you during that tumultuous time in March 2020. Sometimes we communicate updates during our annual meeting. When you have changes that affect your goals and timeline, we ask that you communicate with us too. We can advise you best on your investments and portfolio, when we know what we are working towards and what adjustments may need to be done.
Not everything warrants a change, but we always appreciate your call or email on what has changed in your life. Rest assured, you will hear from us, when we have changes and recommendations for you.
