Working From Home

A recent power outage dictated a day of working from home. More and more we are aware of companies allowing their employees to work from home or telecommute as they used to say. Some companies are even mandating a certain number of days a month that employees must work from outside the office.

With emails and cellphones, we never seem to be away from the office even when we are away. My day was filled with emails and phone calls while watching all the different positions our Daisy could manage to snooze in.

Before working from home you may want to consider the following:

  • Do I need a designated area? Is it private enough?
  • Is my internet up to the task or is an upgrade in order?
  • Internet security – up to date and compatible?
  • Do I need a headset or second monitor?

Preparation is the key to being productive. Many times the office can be more distracting than our home environment. Missing an Atlanta rush hour or two may not increase your life expectancy but it will make the time you have here a lot more enjoyable…. and your dog will appreciate the extra time to be with you.
