Raymond James adds senior banker to growing Financial Sponsors Investment Banking practice

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Raymond James has hired experienced finance professional Brian Murchie as managing director in the firm’s Financial Sponsors Investment Banking practice. Murchie will further develop Raymond James’ relationships with private equity (PE) firms located primarily on the West Coast and in the South and bring to bear Raymond James’ industry insight, execution expertise and long-standing dedication to the middle market space.

Having been on both sides of the deal table during his 13-year career, Murchie has strong relationships and a successful track record of sourcing deals and investment opportunities while delivering strong customized outcomes. He will build a broader and deeper network with the PE community to ensure all aspects of Raymond James’ expertise and capabilities are leveraged to deliver innovative ideas and quality execution on a broad range of transactions for PE clients.

“Brian is a talented professional known for his commitment to working hard and driving results for clients,” said David Clark, head of the Financial Sponsors group. “Our goal is for Raymond James to be a leading advisor to middle market private equity firms across North America and Europe. The number of our transactions involving financial sponsors has grown tremendously in recent years thanks to the contributions of everyone on the Financial Sponsors team and adding Brian positions us for continued growth in the private equity community.”

Murchie joins Raymond James from Stifel’s financial sponsors practice. Prior to that, he served as a vice president at Platinum Equity for seven years and was responsible for deal origination and managing strategic relationships with corporate sellers and investment banks. Other previous experience includes roles with Grant Thornton, FTI Consulting and a boutique investment bank. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Michigan State University.

“The Financial Sponsors practice at Raymond James is focused on providing PE firms with compelling ideas, investment opportunities and creative solutions along with high-level attention on every transaction,” said Murchie. “There’s a lot of opportunity in the current market, and I’m eager to introduce my network to the Raymond James platform.”
