7 Super Ideas for the Wine Lovers on Your Holiday List

A coffee mug on a table

It’s no secret that I love wine! Over the years I’ve enjoyed giving and receiving fun wine-themed gifts. Last year, my sister in law gave me these socks and my assistant gave me this great mug!

If you’re looking for some last minute holiday gift ideas and wine is on your radar, here are some fun ideas for every budget.

Choose a wine by it’s cover

Ok, most wine snobs will disagree with me on this one, but sometimes you do want to pick a wine solely based on its label. You can find some humorous themes that match the recipient’s hobbies or personality. For example, did you know there is a wine called Kung Fu Girl? I’ve had it—and it’s totally drinkable. Consider that for your aunt who loves martial arts. For the second in the triumvirate, try Middle Sister wine.

Don’t rule out the bubbles

Champagne is never a bad idea in my book. Just stick to classics like Veuve Clicquot. For a lighter budget or more casual gathering, pick a good prosecco. What’s the difference? Read more here.

Give 24 a swirl

Aldi’s Advent calendar has 24 miniature wine bottles for each day of December (if they haven’t sold out by now). Not intoxicated by the idea? There’s one with cheese instead.

If you can spend more

Want to really make an impact with your gift? Put together a mixed case of wines and tag them with personalized notes such as “for backyard BBQ/burgers”, “girls night out”, or “just because.” If you are not familiar with wine, don’t try this on your own. Visit a reputable wine shop, let them know your budget (plan on $15 or more per bottle) and let your creative juices swirl! Note that most shops will offer a 10% case discount, even for a mixed lot.

Make it kid friendly

No, it’s not what you think! I love these shatterproof glasses from Govino, which will stand up to the grabbiest toddler. They’re also great for travel, pool decks, tailgates…you get the idea. I take mine anywhere I run the risk of being served with a red Solo cup.

Tailgate in style

Speaking of tailgating, this Corkcicle thermos keeps your liquids cold for over 24 hours. You’ll want to get the 25 oz thermos—it holds an entire bottle of wine.

Wine.edu

Giving the gift of wine education can be a thoughtful way to please the enthusiast who wants to explore. If you know someone who seriously wants to learn more about wine, and you have an ample budget, give the gift of wine education with courses like these from The Wine School of Philadelphia.

On a tighter budget? Wine Folly offers an assortment of fun and informative gifts, from wine maps to tasting journals.

Summary of holiday wine gift ideas

You can really get creative beyond just giving a bottle of wine (not that there’s anything wrong with that!). I’d love to hear what you come up with!
