Port Clinton OH
In July, my husband and I and our girls took a short driving trip to Port Clinton, OH, a little over an hour from Cleveland. We stayed in an AIRBNB house close to the water and the downtown area. It was filled with beautiful views of the water and fun things to do without the long travel time. Some highlights of the trip included:
- Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial – Located on Put in Bay, it was established to honor those who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie, during the War of 1812, and to celebrate the long-lasting peace among Great Britain, Canada and the U.S.
- East Harbor State Park – Sandy beach for swimming and areas to fish. We saw a bald eagle flying overhead when we were fishing.
- Marblehead Lighthouse State Park – Features the oldest working lighthouse on the Great Lakes.
- Cedar Point – Roller coasters, amusement park and water slides. Something to do in the park for all ages and thrill levels.
- Liberty Aviation Museum – Showcase of World War 2 items, trucks and planes, including a flyable WW2 North American B-25 Bomber.
- Cheese Haven – The name says it all! I used to visit Cheese Haven as a kid and it looks the same today as it did many years ago.
- Restaurants: Cleats Marblehead, Marblehead Galley, A la Carte Café, Rosie’s Bar & Grill (not your average bar food!)
